Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there are still plenty of things to do in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. Texas takes the nation’s independence day seriously, so there are plenty of places to see fireworks and have some summer fun. There are a few extra considerations this year however, for safety. Some typically-crowded areas will be off-limits, and there are some other restrictions that help enforce physical distancing.
Fort Worth’s Fourth
Fort Worth’s Fourth is an annual tradition boasting the largest fireworks display in North Texas. Come celebrate both those who have fought and died for this country, as well as the front-line healthcare workers putting their lives on the line every day.
Location: Panther Island Pavilion
Time: Approximately 18:00-22:00, fireworks begin at 19:20

COVID-19 Changes: You can watch the fireworks from your home, or the surrounding area. For 2020, do not come to the Panther Island Pavilion venue. Trinity Park will be accessible via trails for pedestrians and vehicles. Between 05:00 and 11:30 it will be closed to vehicles.
Addison Kaboom Town
This award-winning fireworks display is one of the biggest and most recognized in the US. It is the largest fireworks display in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. There are usually 1,500 pounds of fireworks that get launched, and the 30-minute show is recognized as one of the top ten Fourth of July events by the American Pyrotechnics Association. There is also an airshow, featuring historic warplanes. Addison Kaboom Town takes place one day early, on July 3rd.

COVID-19 Changes: The location is undisclosed to prevent crowding at the fireworks launch site. Fireworks will be launched out of town, but the even will be streamed at 21:30. You can watch the streaming on the Addison Youtube Channel. This year, there will not be an air show. There are 30% more fireworks during the show than usual planned for 2020.
Arlington 6 Flags over Texas
Watch the Star-Spangled Tribute to America show at the dance theater, the All-American dance party, enjoy carnival food and rides, and more. If you are interested in this event, you will need to make a reservation with 6 Flags Park first.

COVID-19 Changes: Visitors must register first to be aware of pandemic rules and to prevent overcrowding. There are also a wide variety of new safety measures.
Frisco Freedom Fest
This family-friendly festival usually wide-variety of activities. There is a 5K run, a Cornhole tournament, and of course a fireworks show. This year, you can still come and see the fireworks display, as well as check out the 4th of July hotels and restaurants weekend deals. Alcohol is not allowed at this one, as it’s a family event.
Location: Four FC Dallas parking lots will be available to the public for viewing. Public can enter Tundra Platinum, Camry Gold Lot, Corolla Red Lots, and Highlander Green Lots.

COVID-19 Changes: Visitors are encouraged to stay in their cars during the fireworks display. There will not be a 5K or Cornhole tournament this year.
Grapevine 38th Annual July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza
This will be Grapevine’s biggest fireworks display to date. They are planning on shooting some of the largest shells ever fired. It’s a beautiful sight to see over Lake Grapevine, and there are plenty of great social-distancing-ready areas to view from surrounding the lake.

Plano’s All-American Fourth
The massive fireworks display will be launched at a higher altitude this year, to enable viewing from further distances.
Location: The fireworks will be visible in a one-mile radius from the Plano Event Center.

COVID-19 Changes: There will not be vendors or activities accompanying the show. Those who wish to see from home can stream the events from the Plano Arts and Events Facebook Page. The fireworks will be set off at 500-600 feet, rather than 300-500 feet in order to increase the viewing radius.
Colleyville Stars and Guitars
The annual patriotic celebration returns! There will be a musical performance by DJ KB, giant Jenga, checkers, and Connect 4, and plenty of food. Food trucks will start serving food at 18:30, and guests may bring their own food and alcohol.

COVID-19 Changes: There will not be reserved seating. The event is moved to City Park this year to encourage physical-distancing.
McKinney Red, White and Boom
The city of McKinney will have not only a fireworks display, but also a drive-through parade. Rather than the floats passing by, people can drive by the stationary floats. The fireworks show will be held at a location that enables viewing from even further away than normal as well.

COVID-19 Changes: No parking or pedestrian traffic allowed at the Craig Ranch Soccer Complex. The fireworks can be seen from up to 4-miles away. No on-site parking at the show, and cars can not pull over on main roads either.
