2020 has been an historic year. What have we accomplished last year and how will affect 2021?
The ancient Mayans predicted that 2012 would be the new “cycle of civilization,” representing an end of the present status quo and the beginning of something new. Well, maybe they were off by about 12 years. Without a doubt, 2020 has been a year for the books. We’ve had historic weather; including fires across multiple continents, inland hurricanes, and bad weather all around. There has also been the political hangover of Brexit, the US presidential election, and the threat of war with Iran. Let’s not forget the defining feature of 2020…the introduction of 5G networks! Just joking, but you may have heard of something called coronavirus? Oh yeah, we almost forgot, there was a massive influenza pandemic, rivaling the 1918 Influenza. COVID19 has changed everything about how we lived this year.
It’s been an historic year. Unfortunately, mostly for the worst. Let’s bid it adieu together, and remember that we soldier on. Well, Reliable Commercial has been soldiering on this year. Despite everything this year has thrown at humanity, construction has been relatively unaffected. Unlike the service or hospitality industries, which rely on indoor, face-to-face interaction, construction is largely done outside, and inelastic. The demand for construction doesn’t really change thanks to changes in the world – the inexorable march of progress is what we do, and we’ve been doing it this year.
Let’s take a look back at the year 2020 for Reliable Commercial to see what we’ve been up to, and what it means for 2021.
Completion of All Storage Mansfield
Reliable finished a massive construction effort this year, the All Storage facility in Mansfield. This is a gargantuan self-storage project in Texas. This construction project is a great reflection of what our company’s capabilities are now, and a good idea of what we will be able to deliver in the future.
Mansfield All Storage was a big and complicated project between multiple parties with buildings across multiple sites, made on-budget and on-time. It’s great that we could complete such a large project on time and on budget, and even better that we were able to satisfy all stakeholders.
In order to finish the facility within the required time and budget, we used the tested and true method of tilt up construction. Tilt up construction is essentially the technique of forming the outer walls for a structure on the ground, and then using a crane to lift them into place. They are buttressed in place with scaffolding and supports while the roof is put on and the rest of the supporting structure is finished. This technique sounds advanced and high-tech, but it’s been around since the early 20th century and it’s still being perfected. Tilt up construction is cheap, efficient, and extremely flexible, and we are happy to add it to our capabilities when it comes to building.
What does this mean for 2021?
At Reliable Commercial, we are experts in various types of construction. One of our favorites is tilt-up building. This method is cheap, less labor-intensive, and efficient. Meaning that we can more easily complete your project on-budget and on-time. Long story short: we focus on the most efficient construction methods to get even big and complex jobs done quickly and easily.
